How can I remove the 'edit document' permission from a shared document?

I just shared a document with Y.  I didn't want them to be able to edit it, but I don't see where I should have set that up before I sent it to them.

Now that it's been sent to Y, can I still make that change?

thanks in advance for the help

Hi pdxmaven, thanks for contacting us!

If you've shared a file directly to a user's Dropbox account, you can change the permissions of the file using these steps, which would be the same for a shared file.

You can set it to read-only, to prevent any user from editing the file.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
