Hi Walter,
Thanks for your reply; I tried it today again, downloaded the new dropbox desktop app, now it works....
It is wired, but finally fixed!

I am having this issue as well. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app, was able to force it to resync by marking for offline availablility on each folder then each file individually (wouldn't process when selected as a group and wouldn't inherit folder settings). No option to sync manually, no indication what the error is or how to resolve it, just a half grey message saying basically "Sorry, our product doesn't work," followed by "care to upgrade?" in the app.
