Unable to change Folder membership.
Im trying to add an external user to a folder within our team folder. This is a partner that we wish to grant access to a specific folder that has a natural place inside a larger project. When I click the folder settings, I cant change the folder membership: Only team members, and i am asked to contact my admin. I am the admin, and still cant do anything. I checked the admin console to see if there were any logical settings to change there without luck.. Has Dropbox still not made it possible to share a folder within a shared folder or am I missing somthing?

Hey mykle, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Is it possible that you were signed in to another member's account at the time you tried to change these settings?
If not, can you try from another browser or a private browsing window, to see if that helps?
You can also try the "content" tab in your admin console, to see if you can share the folder from the "manage" button there.
Let me know how it goes.

same problem here. using other browsers (chrome/firefox) did not work
it worked until recently, now all folders that I set up specifically for collaboration with externals show only the option "only team members" and I cannot change (same in admin console under "content").
also here I am the admin and general sharing settings are set to "Team + approved".plase advise

Hi mykle, what settings do you have enabled on for your sharing settings in the admin console?
- mykle3 years agoHelpful | Level 5
I think I solved it by going to the folder menu in the admin console.

Hi,
I have the same issue; it worked well till a few weeks ago. I cannot change membership, which is not stuck to "Only Team Member" (that pop down, doesn't pop at all), and this seems to be the root cause of the fact I cannot invite external anymore.
Going to the admin console to me makes no difference, nor using a private browsing. Please advice, but it seems a bug from your side on setting rights.

Hi Gabriele-Luxembourg, is it possible that an admin has disabled external sharing in the admin console?
- Gabriele-Luxembourg3 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Dear Jay,
Thanks for your answer. But that is not the case
The setting is correct; and I am the only admin. Besides, for certain folders I can share with external in the approved list. For me it has to do with the fact that folder membership is frozen to be Only Teams Members (despite the setting says differently).
Best,
Gabriele

Is this a normal shared folder, or a team folder on the account? Can you provide any more information on the type of folder, including a screenshot showing the icon next to it?

Dear Noah,
It's a team folder.
This folder, however, I am still able to share with an approved non member
(the email address is yellow)
What is puzzling, is that if I chose on another team folder and I try to share
with same approved non member, I cannot share (the email is red)
Best,
Gabriele
