Dropbox backup folder weight doesn't match original folder
I'm currently using Dropbox Backup to make a copy of a large size folder I have in an external hard drive.
It all seems to be syncing fine, but the size of the Dropbox backup folder doesn't match the original folder. The folder weighs like 111 GB but Dropbox's copy weighs 103 GB.
I haven't been able to find if any files are missing from the backup, but because is such a big folder, I can't check every individual file. No error or messages saying that file are missing have popped up during the syncing.
Maybe all files inside the folder have synced properly and it's just a visual bug I have no idea at this point.
If anyone knows happens to know the answer or things I can do to check if everything has synced correctly it would be very helpful. I can also provide any specific details needed.
Thanks.

Haha.,,😁 It's not any visual bug for sure.
There are some units differences used by different online systems and by different file managers. Some of them assume the classical Si standard: 1k=1000, 1M=1000k, 1G=1000M, etc.
On informational units classical way of measure is: 1k=1024, 1M=1024k, 1G=1024M, etc. (something used by Dropbox).
Do you know when you look at your files/folders locally (especially their size) what type of units are in use? If I have to bet, the difference you noticed comes from different types of units in use. 😉 To avoid mistakes always use Bytes(the basic unit) for comparison, not their derivatives, so always will be the same. Unfortunately Dropbox doesn't always shows the values in Bytes. 🤷 On some places (some telecoms for instance) could be seen even mixtures of units - technically stupid way for marketing tricks.
Happy new year and good luck. 😉
