Hello! I have a client that didn't realize he must've clicked for Dropbox to backup his files, despite having a free account with only 2 GB. Well he got a new computer, and his old drive was cloned to the new computer. Even with Dropbox signed in, the files aren't actually in Dropbox, despite opening programs on the old computer and the path showing something such as: "C:\Users\Owner\Dropbox\My PC (Owner-PC)\Desktop\Clients" The files are accessible on the old computer, despite not showing in dropbox or on dropbox website, so where would I find them since there wasnt space to actually put them in dropbox?112Views0likes7CommentsMy Dropbox is full of backup files that I can't remove.
My dropbox claims to be full, but I have no essentially no files on it. When I try to see what's taking up the space, it claims that "Backup" is taking up 2.7gb out of my 2gb of space. But I have no backups, and I have no linked devices. How can I remove these "backups"? What are they backups of? Is there some way I can just "factory reset" my account to just as if I had started a new account, maybe?Solved164Views1like4CommentsHidden .dropbox_bi folder storing 87GB of files locally!
Hi, I've just recently set up a new Dropbox Professional account. After installing the desktop app on my Mac I also set up a backup of my external SSD, which completed successfully yesterday. Standard Dropbox file sync seems to be working fine, and the Dropbox app says everything is up to date, but for some reason I now have a new hidden folder under my Mac user folder called .dropbox_bi. That folder is storing 87GB of files on my primary SSD, apparently related to the 220GB of data backed up from the external SSD. Is this my life now? Or is there some way to recover that massive waste of precious primary SSD storage space?Solved24KViews2likes92CommentsLinux Computer Backup is taking up my Dropbox space
I tried to install Dropbox Backup in my Linux Mint computer, not realizing it would send me over my size limit. So now Dropbox is not operating. How do I remove Dropbox Backup? Maybe its installation stopped when my Dropbox hfolder reached its size limit?1.6KViews0likes3CommentsDropbox backup - I never asked for it, but it busted my storage limit
Hi, I've been using Dropbox Basic for about 10 years. About a year ago, to get more (free and EU-based) space, I signed up for pCloud, which also allowed me to back up Dropbox. All good, until recently I started getting limit warnings from DB. I moved files over to pCloud, where I still have plenty of space, but my DB storage tally didn't go down. I discovered, by searching on the internet, that in fact DB backup was simultaneously backing up my pCloud files (!). Deleting the DB backup brought my storage tally right down to where it belonged. My question is: DB backup is a paid service. I did not sign up for it or consent to it at any time. I wasn't even aware it existed. Having it working away in the background has caused a lot of confusion, with backups of backups of backups. I regard my files on Dropbox as already backed up because they're on my hard drive as well as the cloud. What is the difference between files in regular Dropbox and files backed up by DB? Having two cloud storage systems on the go at once is a recipe for disaster. Thanks!4KViews0likes10CommentsMy storage is full, and I have issues deleting my Backup, can't get it right.
Hi I'm becoming quite frustrated as my storage space is full even though I've deleted most of the files. I think the backup is the issue, but I've followed all the links to deleting backups but nothing works. One suggestion took me to a page with this wording: "To delete your computer backup: Click the Dropbox icon in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). Click the Sync and Backups tab." I don't have this option - clicking on the icon gives me two tabs - Sync History or Activity, neither of which give me the delete options. I set up my DropBox account a long time ago on an old pc. Deleting a backup should really be a simple task but in my opinion DropBox make it difficult to encourage people to upgrade. This policy has actually pushed me the other way. I'd really appreciate someone from DropBox showing me how I do this, please.Solved2.1KViews0likes10Comments
