Dropbox notifications tell me I'm over my limit
Dropbox Plan
Standard
Device
MacBook Pro M3
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
OS Tahoe
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
244.4.6580
I've downgraded from Plus to Basic (basically semi-retired and don't need all of the space) and Dropbox is telling me I'm using 708gb of my 2gb space.
I expected this to happen 2 months ago when I switched and things were sitting in a deleted folder on DB waiting to be erased, but there are no backups of hard drives anywhere going on and nothing being uploaded now.
The only files I can find both on my Mac and on the DB website come to a grand total of 93mb, and no syncing going on because of the limit restriction.
I've searched everywhere I can think of - including in that online deleted files folder - and can't see any files anywhere, only the 93mb I have trying to sync.
Any thoughts on where else I could look to delete anything? It's no great hassle, just annoying having the popup every day asking me to delete files or upgrade.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks again Walter, Just seen that tab and there's stuff going back to 2010 on there - busy deleting now, but I think 'case closed' and I can now use as I like.
Cheers, all the best - Walter2 hours ago

I'm glad to hear you sorted this out in the end TrevReav.
As for your shared files, have you taken a look at your sharing tab?

And that was it!
It was the 'deleted backups' taking up the space. Why they were still being kept there is anyones guess, but now permanently deleted and I now have space, although there's still the odd isuue of the 807mb of shared files and haven't a clue where to find these as there's only the 93mb visible - TrevReav3 hours agoNew member | Level 2
Hi Walter, thanks for the very quick reply.
My plan is Dropbox Basic, it's telling me I have used 708.1gb of 6.25gb (I had an extra gb or 2 through recommendations, hence the funny number).
Standard files showing as 56.3mb.
Backups as 707.3gb.
Shared Files as 807mb, so basically it's saying it's my backups.
The Backups page tells me: "No backups here at the moment.", so nothing there.
It's a glitch in the Dropbox matrix…
edit: I've just gone to the 'show deleted backups' page and I am trying to 'permanently delete' them now, but the banner seems to be just sitting there doing nothing - ar taking a very long time.
Fingers crossed you may have pointed me in the right direction. - Walter3 hours ago

Hey TrevReav - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
What is your account's quota breakdown as shown in your plan page?
Have you tried navigating to your backups page to see if there are any folders listed there?
Let me know and we'll take it from there.
