Dropbox stats don't add up

Ok, so I have

Regular Files(3.7GB)
Shared files (3.7GB)
Unused space(23.4GB)
and yet Dropbox is telling me I don't have enough space when I am trying to upload 6GB of files.

What's going on??

I have refreshed numerous times and yet it remains the same info.

Hi Caprice, is it possible that your device is full, rather than your Dropbox account?

Also, are you certain that your app is connected to the same Dropbox account, as the one you check for space online?

Thanks Mark but I don't have a backup service.

    Cheers.

Hi Caprice, are you certain you're trying to upload only 6 GB of files, or is it possible there's more data than expected in the attempted upload?

    Hi Jay,

I am sure it's 6GB of data as I highlight the files, go to properties and it tells me what the size is.

I even tried a smaller amount of files got the same response from DB.

Hello from me as well, Caprice!

What you mention sounds indeed quite odd. Is it possible to send me a screenshot of the error message you keep receiving, so that I can have a look?

If you have the desktop app installed on your device, can you try to upload your files from there and let me know if you still face the same issue?

    Hi Nancy,

There was no error message, just showing a red asterisk on the icon and, when opened, saying my Dropbox was full.

There is actually a possibility that the drive my Dropbox is on may not have had enough space.

I'll keep an eye out for that next time.

    Thanks Megan.
