Re: Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hello,
I’ve sent several referral invites that were accepted, and the recipients registered and downloaded Dropbox using my referral link. However, each time the referral ends up showing as “Ineligible” after they complete the registration and app installation on their device.
Could you please clarify why this is happening and help me resolve the issue?
I’d really like to continue using Dropbox rather than switching to another cloud storage service, but I need to understand why the referrals aren’t being credited correctly.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi there, SnailMango, thanks for joining our Community!
Keep in mind that the users you sent a referral to, will need to install the Dropbox desktop app for both of you to receive the bonus space. Meaning, it won't work if they're installing the mobile app, for example.
You'll also find some helpful info about the referral bonus and why it might be marked as ineligible here.
Let me know if it helps.

Hi Hannah,
Yes, I’m aware of that requirement. In all previous cases, I specifically asked my friends to install the desktop app, and I’m certain they did so for the most recent referral invites as well.
However, the referrals are still showing as “Ineligible” even after they completed the registration and installed the Dropbox desktop app.
Could you please check if there is any specific reason why these referrals are not being approved?

SnailMango, is there any chance at all that your friends were connected to the same IP address as you, when they accepted your referral and installed the Dropbox app?
Other than that, is it possible that any of them had previously signed in to the desktop app on their devices with a different Dropbox account?
This will help us isolate the issue a bit more.

Hello, that's not possible, as I was connected to my office Wi-Fi while my friends used their respective home Wi-Fi connections. Both the private and public IP addresses were different.

Hey SnailMango!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Reply back to me, and I'll be more than happy to investigate.
Thanks a bunch!
