Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.
My email is <<removed to avoid spam>>
Regards, Tahir
- Hey Ranim Al-shakifi, thanks for joining the discussion here and happy Monday!
I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.

I have a problem with my "Refer a friend". I invited and convinced a colleague to use dropbox. Even though he registered and installed dropbox, it did not add the promised 500 MB. It says "Ineligible" and I have no idea why.
This is historically the second time this has happened to me, but here I am absolutely sure that the conditions for space allocation have been met.
Anyone have any idea what this could be? Where do I go to get someone to fix it? - maher19822 years ago

Hi Queen444, It's a good idea to review the terms and conditions of the referral program on the Dropbox website to understand why a referral might be ineligible.
Dropbox Referral Program Terms and Conditions.
If this doesn't work for you, I suggest, as Rich mentioned above, contacting Dropbox support for clarification on this issue.

Hi Rich. It's a new computer. I initially tried to contact support, but all attempts led me here. I will try again.

Now DB is saying that my referral is ineligible all of sudden. Why not say this at the time of referral?
If it's saying ineligible, then it's ineligible for a reason, and Dropbox wouldn't know if it was eligible or not until the referral process was completed.
Was the app installed on a unique computer, one never having had Dropbox previously? If the computer previously had Dropbox on it, the referral could be marked as ineligible. A referral could also be marked as ineligible for other reasons that make the referral look suspicious. The only way to know if the matter can be corrected would be to contact Support.

I referred a friend and they created an account and installed the app as a result. Now DB is saying that my referral is ineligible all of sudden. Why not say this at the time of referral? How do I get the extra space for this referral?

Hi Hannah,
Yes this person did install they Dropbox desktop app. He installed it on his desktop for work and on his laptop for personal/school. Now neither of us have the extra storage as promised.
