Unable to find files in Dropbox

I have somehow backed up files from my Apple Mac into Dropbox and as a result reached my Dropbox storage limit. I want to delete the accidentally backed up files which I can see in my Recent history however I cannot find these files in my Dropbox.com folders. Any help appreciated.
