UpDraft Backup storage in Dropbox

Hello. I recently created a free Dropbox account for my own website's backups. I use a WordPress plugin called UpDraft Plus, which sends the backups to my Dropbox account each week. After a couple of weeks I got messages saying that my Dropbox storage is all used up and my files aren't syncing. My developer told me that the older backup files will be automatically deleted to make room for the newer backup files, so I'm not sure why I've run out of room. He said the free version of Dropbox with 2G will suffice for now. Can anyone help?

At the moment, this is not something that can be done by Dropbox.

Dropbox can only sync new files added to your account, but cannot automatically delete files you add.

You'll need to do this manually, or through some kind of third party app, if there is one.

Hey ScottMcKernan, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

It sounds like those backups you mentioned are putting you over your account's quota limit.

Can you take a look at your account's plan tab and let me know what's reported there?

Do you see your old backups in your account's homepage perhaps?

Any additional information is more than welcome, Scott.

Hello Walter. Thank you for your reply. The first tab showed that I had a Dropbox basic plan. It said I was using 2.2GB of 2GB of storage. When i went to the home tab I deleted the Mac folder, which I had done before, but it seems to come back automatically. I don't know why that is because I don't do backups of my Mac laptop.

I believe there are 4 files for a total website backup. There were some from 6 days ago, and some from 14 days ago. I deleted the files from 14 days ago, which freed up my space for now. I just need to know how to ensure that older backup files are deleted automatically so that newer backup files can replace them. Can you tell me if there is a setting in Dropbox for that?

    Kind regards.

    Scott

Sorry to jump in here, ScottMcKernan.

If it was a "Mac" folder that was taking up your Dropbox space, it seems that you had previously enabled our Dropbox backup feature on one of your connected computers.

I'd suggest you go to all the computers linked to your Dropbox account, and follow the steps here, to see if backup still hasn't been disabled on one of them.

    Hello.

Can anyone tell me whether or not I can configure Dropbox to automatically delete older UpDraft Plus backups of my website so that newer versions of the backups will be saved? Currently, Dropbox stops syncing my files once the older backups fill up my storage space. Thanks
