"You'll lose access to your files if you don't act soon!" email that I received.
I have been a long term user of Dropbox and have recently been getting misleading emails saying "you'll lose access to your files if you don't act soon!"
The wording here made me think my account would be deleted and all my files with it. Reading other (locked) discussions here it appears this is just a scare tactic email to have me upgrade my account. Desperate and disgusting. Unsubscribed to emails now but still shame on your marketing department.

Hi LW1999,
Such emails come when you have some account that's Basic (free) account and it's not used for year or so. If such account is not use for a year, will be wiped out automatic together with the content.
If that's not the case for you, most probably you have created unintentionally such account at some point and the email send to you is notifying you about that. Just keep accessing your account least once per year and you have nothing to worry about. In case of unintentional created account, just remove it and those "scare" emails will stop. 😉 Or just ignore them and after the automatic removal of the alternative account (that you don't need) they will stop too.
Hope this helps.

Just like anyone receiving this email I did panic and upon checking I noticed my utilization is at 70%. Having been with Dropbox since their inception with "invites only" I really wish they don't cause this panic or spam. Thank you!
