Core dump on Mint Linux 21.2
Hi,
At random times since installing on Mint a month ago my system seems to freeze and only the mouse is visible and able to move with an otherwise blank screen. I then have to get to a virtual ter...

3 years agoHey jahosha, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Can you please check if your computer meets the minimum requirements for the Dropbox app?
Also, which version of the Dropbox app are you using and what is the sync status of the app?
Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hi Hannah thanks for your reply.
My system meets the minimum requirements (Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria based on Ubuntu 22.04 jammy, ext4 filesystem, GLIBC 2.35-0ubuntu3.1 etc) however your documentation says the app only supports 4 desktops (GNOME shell, Unity, GNOME Classic, XFCE). My system is currently running Cinnamon which is the flagship desktop environment for Linux Mint with Nemo as the file manager.
My current version of Dropbox is v181.4.5678 and files are up to date. The app syncs just fine and otherwise works as I have previously come to expect.

Hi jahosha, thanks for the info. If the system doesn't meet the minimum requirements, we wouldn't be able to support the device. In this case, both the OS and the desktop environment don't meet the required specifications for the Linux app.

My purpose was not to solicit support, but to report a bug that I suspect may not be limited to my setup. I would ask, is the prerequisite "GNOME classic" the same as MATE? Because GNOME-classic has been replaced by the latter and it is easily installed on my system and tested.
Not asking for a handout, just want to help.

Hey jahosha, thank you for your insights on this, and sorry for my late reply!
We will bring it to the team. Just a reminder that to run the Dropbox app smoothly using Linux, you need either GNOME shell (may need the TopIcons extension to get the tray icon), Unity, GNOME Classic, XFCE with the corresponding Nautilus dependencies: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/system-requirements.
I hope this helps!
