Dropbox Backup won't recognize external drive on MacOS Sequoia 15.2

Hello,

I cannot get my external drive to show up in the "Add a backup" section of the Dropbox Backup. I've read a bunch of posts about this issue and it seems like there is no solution. Some have said erasing and reformatting their drive worked (an absurd "solution"), but that hasn't for me. I've also done all the other suggestions that Dropbox support and others have put forth to no avail.

Is there really no fix for this? Apparently people have been having this problem for years now.

Thanks for any info or help.

Hey I have the exact same issue, seems that Dropbox cant recognise external SSD on Mac for backup. I have followed all the steps in the thread and seems there is no solution.

As you can see from this thread and many others, apparently no one there has any idea how to fix this. Frustrating.

Hey frostyandroid, we resolved RP15's issue on another thread, but if you're still having this issue, please answer Nancy's questions above so we can continue troubleshooting.

Hannah, I looked at the other thread. You suggested this:

Hey RP15, thanks for your post today.

If your external drive is encrypted APFS, I'm afraid that it's not supported.

On Mac computers you can backup HFS+, APFS, exFAT and FAT32 formatted drives.

I hope this clarifies things, but if you still have questions, don't hesitate to let me know.

As I said previously in this thread to Walter, I had already reformatted the drive to APFS (NOT encrypted.) It did not resolve the issue.

The total capacity of the drive is 2TB, but I am not backing up that much data. Probably less than 1TB is what I would be backing up.

And yes, I'm referring to the Backups tab.
