Fine with me as well.
Thanks for all the help as well.
Thanks for all the help as well.
- Kunal3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Thanks, Nancy will await the next fault finding.
Also after doing the advanced install I lost the application icon from the application folder and was not there as well on my Launchpad.
Now Dropbox is only accessible on my Finder.
Now every time I put anything in dropbox I have to check my phone weather it actually synching with my devices or not. Which is very cumbersome. - Kunal3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Hi Checked my email, don’t have any new troubleshooting.

Nancy, I've completed all the troubleshooting steps, including your most recent suggestion to turn off the preview setting and re-install. Didn't help. Any other ideas?

Nancy So seems that I found a solution. Quit every process, either in Activity Monitor or terminal, including all the Dropbox processes, then re-started Dropbox and the menu icon came back. The interesting thing is that Google Drive icon was then missing, even after Google Drive restarted, but came back after a few items were removed from the menu. So wondering if the notch is the issue?
- Kunal3 years agoHelpful | Level 6I managed to get the Icon back on my Menu bar.
I uninstalled Dropbox from my system and did a thorough removal of Dropbox using the advanced install guidance.
Then downloaded the version Dropbox163.4.5456.arm64.dmg
After doing the installation Dropbox moved from Favourites to Locations and then after that, the Dropbox icon was visible in the menu bar.
But I also feel the icon disappears because of something to do with the Notch.
Because if I don't use Dropbox for some time it disappears from the menu bar. - FredTreebusch3 years agoNew member | Level 2
I have the same problem on a MacBook Pro M2 2023

Same here. Installed the new DropBox for M1 Mac (after a popup from dropbox). Gone from the menu bar in both mac books. Reinstalled etc - nothing

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here ... updated to Ventura and now the menu bar icon is gone and I don't get alerts about synching files, etc. I reinstalled it and that didn't fix it. Deleted other apps from the menu bar so there's plenty of room for Dropbox to show up, but that didn't fix it. Help?

Hi RebeccaLee, in the Dropbox folder in Finder, do you see any syncing icons on the files or folders?
- RebeccaLee3 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Jay no those synching icons next to the individual files are gone now too.

Hi RebeccaLee, did you perform a quick re-install (re-installing the app, using this link) or did you uninstall, then re-install it from scratch?
- RebeccaLee3 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Megan I tried both methods ... I tried just re-installing it using that method you linked to. I also dragged the application to the trash and emptied the trash then downloaded and reinstalled the application. Neither of those things fixed the problem.

Megan Jay I have uninstalled and re-installed the Dropbox app four different times (using both of the methods you asked about, Megan) and the app is still not functioning on my computer -- no synch status icons on my folders, and no Dropbox app icon in my menu bar. When I search for the dropbox app using spotlight it shows up as an option to click, but when I click it just opens my Dropbox folder in my finder window and doesn't launch the app. I've also cleared lots of space in my menu bar, so there's plenty of room for it to show up there. The app is still running in the background somewhere, because it does show up in the CPU usage list in my activity monitor, but files from my dropbox folder are no longer synching with Dropbox.

Megan Jay One correction to my last post. It does seem that files from my computer are synching to Dropbox in the background somehow, just status icons next to the files, no Dropbox app in the menu bar, and the dropbox app doesn't open when I search spotlight and click it there.

Hi RebeccaLee, thank you for reaching back to us, I hope you enjoyed your weekend!
Can you try to perform an advanced reinstall using the steps mentioned here?

Hey,
Just to report, I have the same issue. No matter how much I try I can't get the icon and so cannot access any settings.
