Dropbox Basic
162 TopicsI get a "Sign-in failed" error when I try to log in on the mobile app on Android
Hi there, I've been having issues login in on my mobile phone the past few days. Used dropbox on this device for years, but suddenly can't log in anymore. Initially the error was "invalid code" every time I entered a code I had just received via text message. So I opened dropbox on my desktop and switched off 2 factor authentication. Unfortunately that hasn't solved my problem, I still can't log in on my phone. I now get a message saying unknown error. I am on dropbox basic plan, currently have 2 devices linked. I unlinked the device giving the issues hoping I could link it again, but no success. Any advice on how to solve this?25Views0likes1CommentOld Dropbox folders displayed in Windows File Explorer. How to remove them?
I have several DropBox folders on my desktop computer - Dropbox, Dropbox (Old), Dropbox (Old (1)), Dropbox (Old (2)). I don't know how this happened. I tried deleting some but lost my desktop icons and had to resore them all back to square one! With all these duplicate folders I don't know where my files are being copied to. How can I rationalise my DropBox setup, please?34Views0likes1CommentDropbox location change on MacOS 12.6
Just installed DropBox update v157.4.4808 on a MacbookPro 13,3 running MacOS 12.6. DropBox location was moved by installer to ~/library/CloudStorage and alias moved from "Favorites" to "Locations" in sidebar. DropBox support doc "https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-faqs" says new location due to change in MacOS. HOWEVER, installed same DropBox version on an iMac 18,3 running MacOS 12.6 and the location did not change! DropBox alias remains in "Favorites". Anyone else run across this discrepancy? Anyone have an idea as to cause of this discrepancy?Solved20KViews0likes72Comments".dropbox" file shows "NSFileProviderErrorDomain error -2005" on Mac. Should I keep it?
I've read that I should keep the ".dropbox" file. It shows up on two of my mac computers with a sync error status of "The operation couldn't be completed. (NSFileProviderErrorDomain error -2005)". I'd like to understand what is going on here and what I can do to relieve my account of its errors. Any information is appreciated. For starters... - Is this file supposed to be synced? - I don't know how I would even remove it from being synced aside from deleting it. - Why don't I see it on dropbox.com? - Is it trying to sync? - Are file names like this acceptable? - What can I do to fix the error? specs: macOS 12.6.9 running Dropbox Basic v182.4.6427 using "updated" version for Apple’s updated File Provider API.Solved3.5KViews0likes4CommentsNo Dropbox options when I right-click files in the Dropbox folder

Device Dell Inspiron 3480 AOI Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) On my phone it is 448.2.2; I can't find an app version in my computer settings. Question or Issue My computer was going into the shop so I moved all of my important, personal files from my Desktop to Dropbox.com. When I tried to move them back, I got a message telling me to select the file folders I wanted to be on my hard drive. (I assume the rest of the folders will be hanging out on Dropbox.com and the cloud.) After selecting the relevant folders, they totally disappeared! They were not on my hard drive and no longer on Dropbox.com. I finally found a little box to check "see hidden files" on Dropbox.com. When I clicked that, they reappeared on Dropbox.com but they are nowhere to be found on my hard drive or desktop. So, I started trying to copy the relevant folders one at a time to my Desktop. I've been using DB for 10-20 years and now I can't even figure out how to transfer my files from Dropbox.com to my Desktop! I used to be able to just right click on the folder, hit copy, and hit paste on my desktop. Now it says it will only copy the link, not the actual folders. I want the actual folders! I've tried everything I can think of. I have transferred some of the folders to my email and then saved them to my Desktop. Other folders say "some files cannot be transferred" but does not give me any indication of which files can't be transferred!Specific questions: 1: I don't know how to transfer files from Dropbox.com to my desktop. 2. I can't figure out how to sync -- the instructions provided in Help do not work. I have the Dropbox app on both my computer and my phone. All of the files I have been able to move back to my Desktop do appear in my phone app. Thanks for your help! Christine118Views0likes9CommentsDropbox is still starting up and loading your accounts.

I proceeded to complete the installation, logged in through the Browser, at which point I was asked to approve the login via the Dropbox mobile app. I accepted the login but was informed that I had too many logins (more than 3), so I deleted from logins my old iPhone, and older version of my PC (named Mike-PC) that connected 3 months prior. I was then able to complete the installation and see a Windows Explorer window listing my Dropbox Folder Structure. I closed the Windows Explorer Window and clicked on the Application. The application is stuck at "starting" By navigating to the application preferences I then see below.. Stangely, Dropbox seems to also have the signin prompt available as if I never signed in.. But I did. if I quit the process and start it up again, it does the same thing. I should also make note that I had this issue a few weeks ago and just uninstalled the program and gave up. This is me desperately hoping for a proper solution.Solved95Views0likes2CommentsHow can I remove one device from my Basic account, in order to add a new one?
