Dropbox Basic
1418 TopicsMy referral shows up as "inelegible" for extra storage space
I've given referrals to the other members of the family to get some extra storage space on my basic account, and there was a truckload of problems with it. Firstly, when trying to install the desktop app, which is necessary to complete the referral, it would only open MY dropbox, and automatically log them out of their web accound and override a login of my account. To circumvent this, we had to uninstall the desktop app from the computer, log out of my account, log back in on their account, and then reinstall the desktop app, (which took a while of tinkering, because logging back in on my account before the app was fully installed just reset the whole thing, so it took 3 tries to do this). After completing this, I log back into my account to check the referral status, and it says "inelegible" Another unrelated issue is that when I look at my account settings, it says under timezones that I am in GMT+2, which is wrong, I live in Norway, which is GMT+1. I checked a bit back and forth with this, tried setting it to UK which is GMT+0, and it thinks that is GMT+1. In conclusion, the account settings believe that timezones are 1 higher than they are.9Views0likes1CommentDropbox folder opens on Windows Explorer during startup. How can I turn it off?
Minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless - lately when my system starts up, Dropbox starts, syncs, and then opens itself and the Dropbox folder in Windows explorer. I can set Dropbox to not open with Windows, and if I start Dropbox manually this doesn't happen, but I do want Dropbox starting automatically, so this is not a fix. Only started recently (3-4 months?), on Windows 10 Home (Version 22H2 OS Build 19045.6093), with Dropbox version 227.4.4774. I've tried the advanced reinstall to no avail, and there's no Dropbox shortcut in the Windows Start-up folder, as suggested in this thread. I'm at a loss - I'd rather not have to start Dropbox manually, but that seems to be my only option at this point.Solved81Views0likes6CommentsWeeks of Dropbox files are gone. Can I restore them somehow?
HELP! All our Dropbox files from May annd June are gone. We have checked through the app and online and the most recent files available are from the last week of April. This is catastrophic — my wife and I have used shared files in Dropbox for years and years to track bills, taxes and other critical functions. This has never happened before. If anyone can help, please, I ask for you to chime in, thank you.30Views0likes2CommentsHow to expand left sidebar width on the website?
How can I expand the left sidebar width. I have many levels of files and I can not see the names of folders that I want to move files into. As you can see below, all I can see is the first letter of the folder "A" and there are several of them. I want to be able to expand the left sidebar so I can see the names of those folders and not just the first letter. I was able to do it before, but not now for some reason. Thanks!1.9KViews8likes14CommentsI'm getting very frustrated trying to contact support; I've paid for a plan, but it's still Basic.

Hello, There is a 15.2GB backup (KINGSTON external drive & CLIENT) stuck in my Dropbox account. I no longer have this device and the Dropbox app does not show any backup in Preferences → Backup. I cannot remove this ghost backup by myself, and it is taking up my storage space. Please help delete this leftover backup from my account. Thank you!Solved135Views0likes13CommentsDropbox folder opens on computer startup - how can I disable that?
Yes, this has been discussed before. Those discussions have been closed. I am very annoyed by this behavior. I have done the steps described in other posts. Nothing has worked. I have uninstalled Dropbox. In addition to that, I have deleted the folders C:\ProgramData\Dropbox and C:\Users\<my user>\AppData\Roaming\DropBox. For good measure, I opened the Registry and delete all key I felt safe to delete that contained info on Dropbox. And the folder STILL opens on Startup. I have verified in Preferences > General - Open Dropbox upon startup is off. I did note one peculiar behavior. When I open Preferences, for a split second, that setting is momentarily on, then flips off. I don't know if that's relevant, but there it is. I'm wondering if Dropbox support has the knowledge of telling me where that setting is stored so maybe I can nuke it there. I am appealing for any detailed suggestions for solving this. Or at least a confirmation that this is a defect in the current update and hopefully that it is going to be fixed. Thanks for any insight.Solved122Views0likes7Comments
