Dropbox not reading my external drive
I have Window 7 and I uploaded files from an external drive a few months ago with no problem. And it was backing up those files daily with no problems. All of the sudden now Dropbox can’t read the dri...

3 years agoHi czcante, what happens if you remove that file from your Dropbox folder or account, does it help the rest of the files sync across?

The file isn’t on my Dropbox folder or account. It’s only on my external hard drive.
- czcante3 years agoExplorer | Level 4Now it’s not reading my external drive again.
This is very frustrating. Everything was working fine for the past 5 months and now this. And these files I’m trying to backup are my work files. I manually copied them to another EHD last night for safety. But that takes too long. I really need some help!! - czcante3 years agoExplorer | Level 4
This is what I am getting now. No error message. It will stay like this for awhile then it says that it's indexing and
that the last backup was 10/11/23 (.89 TB) It is in a loop with this process. It's been going on for days now.

It's been doing this for hours.
Then it stops and says that it has backed up on 10/11/23 (.89 TB). Then it goes back to indexing.
It's in a loop.

Thanks for these screenshots!
From what I can see in one of your previous messages, there was a file that didn’t seem to sync properly. Is it perhaps possible to move it to your main hard drive instead (and outside of your local Dropbox folder) for the time being, and let me know if the external drive backup finishes now?

I removed the folder. But, I can't check to see if it is still updating because now it is saying again that my external drive is not plugged in and it is.
This is very frustrating.

I'm connected again. And this is what is going on. Still updating and the percentage completed is going dn.
The .89 TB stays the same while the 82% goes down. And that 1.08 TB is going up.

Everything is stuck at the same number for over an hour now except for the updating files.
They go up, down, up, dn, etc..never ending.
Can anyone please help me?

Hey czcante, thanks for the updates here.
Have you tried restarting your computer at all since this started happening?
Also, if you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray, which version of the app do you see that you have?
- czcante3 years agoExplorer | Level 4Yes. I have restarted my computer several times and I still have the same issues.
The app version I have is 186.4.6207 - czcante3 years agoExplorer | Level 4
This is my current status.
The percentage backup completed (63%) is getting lower. The .89TB stays the same while the 1.39TB increases.
And the files are still updating/indexing; those numbers go up, then down, then up and so on.
- czcante3 years agoExplorer | Level 4Yes. You can. Thank you.
