File Provider is on one of my Macs, but not the other, causing issues

I was prompted to update my Dropbox folder settings some time ago to the ~/Library/CloudStorage path to properly function with the Apple API settings. This worked fine. However, I have recently begun using a new Mac Mini and Dropbox on that computer remains installed in the Users directory. In the Dropbox settings, I am told:

"You are not eligible for the new Dropbox for macOS on File Provider at this time. Your Dropbox folder contains some file types that are not supported."

This creates an obvious problem, because I have a Dropbox with two different directories (one that goes through /CloudStorage and one that goes through /Users), creating a lot of problems when I try to load files across computers. I am running the same OS on both computers. But more problematically, I am unsure how my Dropbox folder could contain file types that are not supported by the new Dropbox one on computer but not on the other. 

Has anybody been through something like this?

    Hi descuidadad, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

     

    If you look in the folder on Finder on the Mac Mini, do you see any files with different sync icons, indicating an issue? 

     

    Are you able to view the sync issues directly in the Dropbox desktop application?

     

    Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

    Thank you. There are varying sync icons, but only because of personal preferences. Nothing indicates a sync issue. And this appears to be confirmed on the desktop application. (See screenshots for both)

    The sync icons and the prompt in the Dropbox desktop application indicate that there aren't any issues on that device. 

     

    Is the Dropbox desktop application status message showing as up to date?

    Okay, this means that all your files are syncing normally. If there were any issues, there would be a message there, on the 'sync issues' page.

    Yes, there are no problems with syncing. The problem I described is that I have two different directories, which prohibits me from using my Dropbox smoothly across computers. If my code contains a command to load a file from "~/Library/CloudStorage" then it will fail on my Mac Mini because there is no such directory. As described, the Dropbox application for the Mac Mini states that "You are not eligible for the new Dropbox for macOS on File Provider at this time". But how can it be eligible on one computer and not another, even if it is the same account and the Dropbox obviously contains the same contents?

    Hey descuidadad! Can you clarify the OS version of the device that’s not eligible for File Provider at the moment? 

    Other than than, I’d like to know what drive you currently have the Dropbox app installed on; is it an internal drive or an external one?
