How does one remove the Dropbox link from the Navigation Pane om Windows 10?
I don't notice it on Win8.1, but I have already hacked out a bunch of stuff in the registry on Win8.1. I have the Dropbox folder conveniently located in the root of a second hard drive, I don't need ...

Okay, I think I figured out how to do it. There's only one key value that you have to change, but you also have to change its permissions so that Dropbox won't change it back.
First you have to go to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{E31EA727-12ED-4702-820C-4B6445F28E1A}
And set the System.IsPinnedToNamespaceTree value to 0.
This will remove it from the File Explorer's navigation pane.
Afterwards, you'll need to prevent Dropbox from changing the value back.
To do this, right click the {E31EA727-12ED-4702-820C-4B6445F28E1A} key and then click Permissions. Click Advanced, and then click Add. In the dialog box that appears, type Everyone, and then click OK. Change the type to Deny, and make it apply to This key only. Click Show advanced permissions, and check the Set Value box.
Afterwards, click OK and Dropbox should no longer be able to modify that value. Hopefully Dropbox or Microsoft will make this kind of thing easier someday.

Back to Windows 7, where I actually control my computer and not the other way around. Also I've installed Dropbox again, but I have minimal usage since I feel it's a bad software/service.
The inability to customize the software, infuriates me, but this is because 90% of the people are dumb with computers and just want one-click everything, which makes software developers hard-code settings, hide customization options and over-simplify options.
1. Why the %$&! doesn't dropbox ask you if you want a shortcut in navigation pane?
2. Why on earth we still have to put our folders inside the dropbox and no support for folder Junctions. You can 'hook' the software to several folders and monitor them for file changes, I really can't understand why any of the cloud storage providers won't allow this.
3. Really bad support/interaction with the public... I would think that the issue presented on this thread is big enough for them to at least address it officially: a moderator pass by and just say anything... ANYTHING would be nice.
4. They offer free space to college students for limited time, just to get you hooked to their services and then after a year you lose your "free" 25gb and you either delete files or start paying them... again, nasty marketing strategy.
As I've said, I used to like dropbox, in the beginning they were innovative and they got paid for that... now-a-days it seems like it's just another money driven company. You have plenty of free alternatives, most offer even more space than dropbox and the service is pretty much the same.
Cheers
