How to move my files from C drive to D, but make them online-only?

Hello, I really need help. I already checked the help section on Dropbox's website, the community, and live chat and I'm still experiencing problems. I'm having difficulty in understanding Dropbox and technology, I would highly appreciate it if someone helped walk me through this instead of sending me a link.

I have two local storage drives, Local Disk C: and Windows D : . My Dropbox folder (where files should be syncing) is in C: and I want to transfer it to D :, I also want to make my files in it online-only. I did that by clicking the Dropbox icon on the taskbar tray, profile icon (upper right) > Preferences > Sync > Move Dropbox Folder Location > D : . All it did was transfer my files but not the Dropbox online-only folder. I can't seem to make it sync too because it took up storage space, and it has that grey x icon over my files. When I right-click it, there's no "Make online-only" option. I used Dropbox's live chat support, and they just sent me a link of the same steps I did (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/move-dropbox-folder). The only thing I didn't do is "disable computer back-up" (The in-article link only shows how to set up back-up, not how not to). In the Dropbox community, the solution I found is similar. I can't really try that again because I don't want it to take up more space, when it's all supposed to be online only. I am confused. Help?

Hey DGT2, welcome to our Community!

So, after reading your post, it seems you need to know more on how to make your files online-only, and how to disable your Backup.

It sounds like you successfully moved your Dropbox folder from your C drive to your D drive, is that so?

Now as for the online-only option, do you use a Basic plan? If so, then you wouldn't have that option available, when using a Windows device with a non-paid plan.

You can always try using selective sync, to free up space in your device. Have you considered that?

As for Backup, the steps to disable it can be found here

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know!
