Solved

I can't locate the Dropbox folder on my Linux device.

About two hours ago i posted a question to the forum.  I got several replies and while responding managed to sign out.  Now I cannot find my post.  Is there some way that I can search for my posts?

I also thought I would get an email if I got a response but nothing though I got a message from Dropbox welcoming me.

Thanks

  • Aha, I still have no where my first post went but I solved the "dropbox folder" problem.   I was misreading a Dropbox warning message about the number of devices I had connected. Apparently I had too many devices connected—old computers—and once I dropped a couple my desktop folder appeared.

Hi there jrkrideau - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

You should be able to find your posts in your Community's profile page

That said, I'm not seeing any posts other than this on your current profile. Do you happen to have another Dropbox account perhaps, associated with a different email address of yours?

If you happen to remember the title of the post or manage to get a URL that links to it, it'd be very helpful!

Thanks. This post both showed up in my profile and my email as I expected. The other one seems to have vanished into another Universe.

This is the only Dropbox account that I have ever had.

I don't remember the exact title but it was something like "I cannot find my Dropbox folder".  I'm guessing but it was probably sent between 14:00 and 16:00 EST 2024-09-25 (today).

    Thanks.

I wasn't able to find it as well jrkrideau

When it comes to the issue with locating your Dropbox folder, could you provide some additional information so that we can assist further?

For example, what is your computer's OS, and the version and status of the Dropbox app as shown in your menu bar/system tray

OS Ubuntu 24.04  (New installation  3 days ago)

I don't understand the "menu bar/system tray"  request.  If it is in Ubuntu I do not see it.  The best I can do is  this from the finder or whatever Ubuntu calls it.

An apt list --installed  tells me I have

    dropbox/noble,now 2024.04.17 amd64 [installed]

    installed.

    Thanks.

You said it appeared in your email. Did you click the link to take you to the post? Like Walter mentioned, the only posts I see for you are the ones in this topic.

Did you click the link to take you to the post?

Yes.  It, also, appears in my profile.

As you and Walter say, I only see the one post.  Is there any way I could have deleted that post without leaving any trace.

Hey jrkrideau, let me also jump in here!

That could be possible. As for your Dropbox folder: what happens if you click the Dropbox icon on your desktop?

Does it re-direct you to your Dropbox folder by any chance? Have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing the app?
