Latest Dropbox app is slow when starting up.
Hello everyone,
My dropbox app (version 171.4.6182) is too slow when starting up.
It currently takes around 20min everyday to be '100%' operational (after the "starting" and "downloading" phases are completed...).
It's a bit odd the fact the app is downloading 1260 files when starting up everyday when there isn't any change made or any new file added since the previous day...
My internet connection is 500 mbps (download) and 100 mbps (upload).
Looking forward to receive your feedback.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there, leandrosilva, happy Monday!
You mentioned that your app is a little slow when you boot up your device, and Dropbox is running. Can you clarify the OS you're using on your end?
The next thing to check here is for any security programs such as antivirus and firewalls, that could be causing this; while this could also be related to your proxy (or even VPN if you use one) settings.
Moreover, could manually customize your bandwidth settings -if you haven't already- since that'll probably help you speed things up?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan,
Thanks for your reply.
About your questions:
01. OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 22H2.
02. Antivirus: ESET NOD32 Antivirus v16.1.14.0.
Dropbox is already excluded from perfomance and detection tasks. No firewall activated.
03. Bandwidth settings.

Hey leandrosilva, sorry to jump in here and thanks for the additional information and screenshots too.
Can you try temporarily disabling your antivirus and any other 3rd party apps that might be interfering and try rebooting your device to see if that makes any difference?
Also, approximately how many files you've got syncing in your Dropbox folder?

Hi Walter,
After disabling the antivirus, I guess the issue remains.
Each time the destkop is connected or restarted, Dropbox takes around 12min to be operational doing the following steps:- Starting... (takes ~ 4:30 min)
- Syncing 8 files - says 1 sec (takes ~ 3:30 min)
- Syncing 342 files (takes ~ 3:30 min)
- Your files are up to date (takes ~ 0:30 min)
Dropbox account size: 24.6 TB

Hey leandrosilva, thanks for the screenshots and the additional info.
Do you know how many files you have in your Dropbox folder at the moment?
Could they be more than 300K? If so, can you please remove some folders through the selective sync settings, to see if that helps?

Hello Hannah ,
Size: 17.1 TB
Files: 1 014 754
Folders: 89 743My Dropbox Business has more than 300k files since day one, which means that the number of files shouldn't be the cause for that issue.
Otherwise, it would be slow from that first day instead of just more recently. - Jay3 years ago

Hi leandrosilva, this could be the reason for the startup speed, with such a large amount of files, as it can affect the performance of the app.

Ok Jay
Thanks anyway.
