My public links are no longer working
All my public links are suddenly not working. I noticed that the previously copied link URL that I've given to people to access the file had "https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com" as the first part of t...

Thanks for getting in touch here!
Please note that public links will no longer function as of March 15, 2017 for Basic users and on September 1, 2017 for Plus and Dropbox for Business users. You can find more information here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/16.
Hope this helps you clarify! If there's anything else you need to ask, please let me know.

This is the ONLY thing we use dropbox for and you [content removed by moderator] have broken it! Dropbox allowed us to simply share files with customers and now you have made that into an absolute mess, not to mention the fact that the existing 40 odd links I have set up in numerous emails are now all broken. I'm not quite sure how Dropbox think that pissing off its customer base is going to create more business. We will not be paying you a penny until the direct link functionality is returned!!!

And you still can, using a Share Link, which replaced the Public folder functionality in 2012.
We will not be paying you a penny until the direct link functionality is returned!!!The ability to directly link to a file was not removed. You can do that with a Share Link buy simply changing the parameter at the end of the link.

Why you did it? It was so usefull to share some pic., videos, pdf, and other file in such simple way (public link). Why do we need all this dl=0/1 and raw=1 now? Will the public link a commersial option now, or what?

Best guess... It was being abused, and it was never really intended for hosting files on webpages anyway. It was meant for sharing files with other people. If you want to host images on forums, blogs, etc., then you really should be using a web host or an image hosting service.
Will the public link a commersial option now, or what?Nope. Commercial accounts are losing the feature in September.

But you keep writing "Share Link, which replaced the Public folder functionality in 2012 (with emphasis)."
Maybe it "replaced" Public Folders in your mind, but if people aren't using "Shared Links" (whatever that is) and we've been using Public folders this whole time, then they haven't really replaced anything, have they.
If you could explain WHY you are removing Public folders, I can get my head around this. I have been a Pro or Premium user (with Ratpack) since 2011, and Public folders is the only Dropbox function that I use. THAT is what Dropbox is in my mind.
I think that you may have gotten out ahead of your customers here, and haven't communicated what and why you are doing this.
