Should dbkextd come up as an "unsigned file" in a diagnostic report?

I am investigating issues with sluggishness (beachballing) on my Mac desktop computer, and the EtreCheck diagnostic software identified (as a minor problem) dbkextd as an unsigned executable file on my system.  I have done enough rummaging around on this site to know that dbkextd is indeed a legitimate filename in the Dropbox universe, but I'm wondering if it's being flagged as "unsigned" indicates an installation issue or something else that needs to be addressed.

  • Hey smytheville, thanks for joining our Community.

I believe you should be okay to follow the instructions on the window in your screenshot.

Unless you're seeing any issues maybe? Are you getting any errors from Dropbox?

What's the sync status of the Dropbox app? You can see that by hovering your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.

Let me know what you find.

I'm not getting Dropbox errors and my sync status is up to date. So I'll disregard this problem, though I wonder why Dropbox would leave an unsigned file dangling out there to vex us. Thanks for your help.
