The desktop app on Windows 11 isn't connecting to the internet

Application Affected
DropBox Windows App
Device
HP OmniBook
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 11
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
241.4.4853

Question or Issue
I just purchased a new Windows 11 machine and downloaded the DropBox app. In the system tray, when I hover over the greyed-out app, it says "Dropbox 241.4.4853 Connecting..." and it never changes. I have a similar issue on another Windows 11 machine. Can someone help me get this connected?

I had been using the windows 11 dropbox desktop app for a while. I mainly use it to move pictures from a digital camera to my iPhone by syncing it with the mobile app.

A few days ago it was not syncing properly so I uninstalled the desktop app and tried to reinstall it. Now, the app will not open at all. I run the dropbox installer, it says it is downloading, then it says it has installed. It appears in the hidden taskbar folder. When I click on it, it just loads indefinitely and never opens. It says “Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment.” But my laptop is connected to my home wifi. When I click on the dropbox app from the start menu, the little blue loading symbol appears for around 1 second and then nothing happens.

I tried restarting, turning off antivirus/firewall, and updating my laptop. I tried doing the advanced reinstall, but the files it says to delete were not there. I can still log in to dropbox on browser, and the mobile app is still working on my iPhone.

Hi davidseides, thanks for messaging the Community!

Could you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application, without uninstalling it first, by using this link?

Keep me updated with any progress!

I just posted about the same issue, on the same version.  (although, my post is no longer visible / deleted...  I'll follow here I guess)

    Dropbox desktop
    Device
    AMD-based Windows PC

    Question or Issue
I'm only seeing this or "Starting" after installing dropbox on a PC that never had it before.  I had tried installing a week ago and ran into authentication issues.  I purged all older linked devices from my account to make room, and did full (advanced) re-install on this PC.

Windows defender is disabled, there is no other firewall running that I'm aware of.  Dropbox has connected through this home router with no trouble on other devices.
