Vault on Desktop is going away (macOS)
Boohoo! Just received this message when starting the macOS upgrade wizard.
I'd just started using this about 6 months ago. Sigh.

Hey Darryl M.4, thanks for reaching out to us today.
We really appreciate your feedback about this and I will make sure that your comments are passed along to our team.
Indeed, on the latest Dropbox for macOS update, you will no longer be able to access Vault through the Dropbox desktop app.
However, you can still access your Vault on our website and the Dropbox mobile app.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, I only have one account. I'm not sure what happened as the Vault I had is no longer visible on the web or mobile platforms. But I'm not going to worry about it as I found a backup of it, so I'm just using that.
It is really not good form to remove features in this half-done way. It should either be there completely or taken away completely. What use would it be for me anyway if it is there on some places, but not on others. Not a good decision in my view to do what you've done, its confusing and puts a burden on users they shouldn't have with a "cross platform" product.

3 years agoHi bst7, I'm going to quote this Help Center article: "Users on the latest Dropbox for macOS update will no longer be able to access Vault through the Dropbox desktop app. You’ll still be able to access Vault on dropbox.com and the Dropbox mobile app."
Now, it's important to note, that Vault requires quite a few steps, in order to be deleted, such as accessing the account's settings, and then deleting it from there. When was the last time you saw your Vault online or on your mobile app?

Now I can't even access the Vault via dropbox.com. It only works via the mobile app. Is it now being shutdown via the browser too?!

ok, looks like if I just go to dropbox.com Vault doesn't work. However, if I try to open Vault via macOS (which is now no longer available) it opens a web page to enter the vault pin, then shows documents in the Vault. Weird, you can't just access it via the web only.

Hi, actually the sidebar does not work that way. It only shows what you have access to, so please follow these steps:
First on top left chose all files, then on the main screen scrol down to find vault. If you click on it it will ask you the password, and unless you lock it again from then on it will be accessible via the sidebar until you leave dropbox website. When you come back you need to unlock your vault from the main screen and only then you will have it on the sidebar.
Curiously, mine is always at the sidebar only greyed out until I unlock it with the steps from above.
