What will other users do without Dropbox Passwords?
I've been using the Dropbox Passwords on my computer and phone and not sure what I'm going to do without it! What are other Dropbox users going to do now? I'd welcome any suggestions.

Thanks for your helpful replies, I've decided to use 1Password but I'm upset that I now have to pay for something that I was already paying for and worked very well

5 months agoHi there, somersetbp, welcome to our Community!
Since Dropbox Passwords will be discontinued on October 28th 2025, what we recommend on our side is for you to transfer your passwords to another trusted and secure password manager application such as 1Password.
You can see the steps on how to migrate your passwords to 1Password or another password manager and other relevant info here.
Of course, I'll also leave the thread open, in case other users would like to share their thoughts.
I hope this helps and if you have any questions, just give us a shout.

Exported passwords to another program, what I'm wondering is what happens to my passwords on Dropbox? The official answer is that I can't delete the passwords unless I also delete my Dropbox account, which for now I want to keep. But when I try to delete my passwords individually, or change or somehow make the information unusable, I get a message about the app going away; it won't let me delete anything. I don't like that Dropbox is keeping this information and would like to know that it is erased.

I have this same concern - I asked Dropbox this Q and this was there response:
**************
Thanks for contacting Dropbox Support. My name is Richard and I'll be assisting you today.
Based on the description provided, I understand that you would like to ask about deleting your passwords from Dropbox Passwords feature.
I would be happy to help resolve this issue right away.
Please note that your passwords won't be automatically deleted from the application, however you can unlink the Dropbox Passwords app from your devices using the Dropbox settings page for your account.
- Login to your account on dropbox.com
- Go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/connected_apps
- Scroll down to the section "View Dropbox content"
- You will see entries for "DB Passwords Android", "DB Passwords iOS and Mac" and "DB Passwords Windows", depending on how many different devices you have setup Passwords on
- Click on an entry, and select "Disconnect" to unlink your Dropbox Passwords account from that device
If you are planning to remove unlink Dropbox Passwords on all of your devices, please ensure that you have printed or saved your recovery words beforehand, as otherwise you will not be able to gain access to your Passwords account again.
Moreover, Dropbox Passwords is separate from your main Dropbox account. Deleting files in your main Dropbox account does not impact the websites, usernames, passwords, and notes stored in Dropbox Passwords.
If you wish to delete all websites, usernames, passwords, and notes from your Dropbox Passwords account, you can do so by selecting "Reset" or "Reset Account" from the settings menu of the Passwords application. This will permanently remove all data.
Due to the permanent destructive nature of this action, you will be prompted to export all of your saved Passwords to a .csv file, so that if you later need access to these passwords you can import them again. This step can be skipped, however I would recommend that you export your passwords to a .csv file, and store them somewhere safe.
Note that if you delete your entire Dropbox account, then all of your passwords will also be deleted - remember to export your Passwords first if you plan to delete your Dropbox account.**************
Which I found less than helpful - that "passwords won't be automatically deleted from the application" :(

I can update to add that my initial attempts were on my PC, and this is where I encountered the inability to delete or reset passwords. I occasionally used Dropbox Passwords on my android devices but found it too cumbersome and so switched to Google passwords on those devices. However, yesterday I opened the app on my phone and I was able to successfully delete my passwords, one by one. I only got through about 100 of the 400+, but today checked in on my PC and those 100 are definitely gone. It's tedious having to do it one by one, and while I accept that Dropbox is scuttling the app, I feel pretty cheated that they are making it so hard to remove all of my passwords from their system. Almost like they initiated the divorce and they are retaining custody my passwords. The password integration is one of the main reasons I have kept the paid subscription.
