Why can't I log in to Dropbox on my different devices?

Application Affected
(Dropbox )
Device
(iMac, MacBook, iPad)
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
(macOS 15.5, ios 18.5)
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
(Not found in app settings or About section)

Question or Issue
I have Dropbox on three Apple devices. A couple of months ago, I updated all of them and transferred all the files from the old to the new machines. Now when I log on to my desktop, I get a request to log in to Dropbox. When I do, it says I already have Dropbox on three devices and must upgrade to add another.

In fact, I am trying to log on to one of the three devices that has Dropbox installed. I have had no trouble adding or using Dropbox files, so I have ignored the logon requests. But recently, I tried to access files I created or edited since I got my updated machines, and they're not on either the laptop or the iPad.

Why doesn't the work I do on my desktop appear on my other devices, as it always did with my old ones? And how can I log on to any of my devices when the algorithm apparently thinks I'm trying to add a fourth device?

Hi allpurposeguru, thanks for posting today.

Could you check your devices page to see how many devices are currently connected to your account?

Do you see any older devices there that are no longer being used?

This will help me to assist further!
