A number of people on the Beyond Compare Forum (Scooter Software) are reporting problems with the subject error when trying to access their Dropbox accounts using Beyond Compare. I first ran into the error about a couple weeks ago and it goes away at times and then comes back. This last occurrence seems to have started on the 27th and I ran across it the next day. I have a M4 Mac Mini that is using the wrong DropBox account but I can't figure out how to switch it to the correct one. My PC is using the correct one and it is up to date with all files but my Mac Mini will not allow me to change my account. I have followed the directions to sign out of the wrong account but when I am automatically taken to the DropBox website it doesn't allow me to change my account to the correct one. When I refreshed the page, it seemed ok but after 2-3 seconds, this image showed up & that's it. Steps to Reproduce: Open the Dropbox app. Go to the Sign up screen. Tap the email field to open the keyboard and start typing. Rotate the device while the keyboard is open. Expected Behavior: The input field should keep focus and the keyboard should remain open so I can continue typing immediately. Actual Behavior: The keyboard closes and the input focus is lost. Able to sign in on browser but the desktop app keeps saying "Starting..." but never logs in. Desktop bounces me to browser to log in so it's a loop. Now it says "Waiting to be linked to Dropbox account" on dropdown menu. This is probably 6+ hrs after attempting to sign in on the desktop app. The Dropbox logo is still greyed out. Dropbox Desktop App installs fine on my Win 11 PC. Unfortunately, I'm unable to sign in to it. The error message reads: "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page" and the 'link' appears to point to something that includes dropbox-client://o-auth2/?code=........ I've tried several 'clean installs' as detailed on the Dropbox site, but without success. I open the desktop app, press the button that sends me to the web browser to connect with my account, it appears that i m logged but it always fails to connect. It appears (in spanish) "The previous session was interrupted. Try again". Ive always signed into my account on safari but for some reason it will no longer let me sign in . I can sign in on firefox . I have recently changed laptop so am trying to add Dropbox to my desktop as before. Every time I log in I get the error "there was a problem completing this request": I have changed my email address, password, restarted my computer multiple times but still no luck. I have tried four different times to install and uninstall the dropbox installer, and still no luck. I have gone in to my account and de-linked all connected devices (I'm on a free plan so know I am limited to 3 devices), but that hasn't worked either: Finally, I know it is a problem with my actual user account as I managed to log in with a different username and password for a different dropbox user and it worked fine (all deleted and uninstalled now). Praying some can help, ideally someone who works at Dropbox, to help me get up and running as the desktop function is essential for my work. Thank you!Solved11KViews2likes14Comments
