Edit Office files on dropbox inside Microsoft Teams app

I have had this working a week ago but now it won't work at all.

I have tried PC, Mac, two different Dropbox Teams with same problem.

All web browsers on the clients can edit excel and word files residing on Dropbox.

Tried Teams native client, Teams inside Chrome and Edge, same problem.

  • Hi Kave, can you locate the file you need to open, and then click the "...", and then choose "Open>" that has the dropdown, and make sure you're clicking the option "Edit in Teams"?

In case you don't see that option, feel free to send me a screenshot of the options you see on your end.

Hey Kave, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you please clarify the steps you take to do this and send us a couple of screenshots so that we can have a visual too?

Also, what plan are you on at the moment? Do you see those apps under your Connected Apps tab?

Any additional information you can share is more than welcome!

    1. Launch browser, Edge on Windows, go to dropbox.com.

    2. Click on an excel file, this will open in Excel online since it is setup that way in Drobox settings, make edits, see how it is saved to file

    3. Open Microsoft Teams App

    4. Go To Files, Go to Other Locations, Dropbox

    5. Go to same excel files as in 2. above, it will open in preview only and not edit mode

I am attaching a screenshot of number 5.

Note that this worked fine a week ago on 5 Macs and two windows PCs and two different teams with Dropbox Buisness Advanced and Miceosoft Buisness Premium licenses.

Great, this worked fine. It has now defaulted to this option.

Very strange this happened to two customers at the same time.

I will notify them how it works now.

    Thank you

DO you have any information when it will work with the new Teams launched in preview?

They have removed Cloud storage from Files and added "apps" instead.

At the moment, we don't have further info about this. I'm not sure if Teams has added info on their end, but we'll make sure to update the thread if we do Kave

Now I have tested on more computers, both Mac and PC.

The option to open in Teams is not there at all, this is from Mac OS but it is the same from another Dropbox Team on Windows.
