11 months agoWill Dropbox Vault be discontinued?
Do you know what you are you doing ?????
Hey guys!
Thanks for showing your interest in Dropbox Vault.
To concentrate our efforts on further improving our existing security features and building new capabilities around advanced data protection, we’ve made the decision to discontinue Dropbox Vault.
From March 4th Dropbox Vault will no longer be available. If you’re currently using your Vault, that folder will automatically turn into a standard Dropbox folder, that doesn’t require a PIN to access. The files in your folder will remain the same.
I hope this clarifies!

I will move to another cloud storage because of this

I personally think that the real reason is not developer resources but rather sales and marketing. In the end you don't need vault if you use the permissions system but that means need to have a family account or a business account and those both cost money. I read the comment about people accidentally seeing your files but I think that the most common use scenario is a family Dropbox without a family account and then the main user has the vault for his personal files. Now that there is no vault you must either get the family plan or find another service

dbox_ Support and people .... what service should I choose to migrate to when you remove this feature I have relied on for years?
This has been a keystone of your product that I have relied on so this is kind of a deal breaker.
Worst decision ever and I will be looking for a new provider that can fill the gap! - Svesor10 months agoNew member | Level 1
I really wonder if the Dropbox leadership do read these comments, and if they do; how do they react? Hopefully someone's lying awake every night, thinking of the consequences this decision will lead to: less customers, less income. That's how everything is connected...

Just find one of their marketing postings and add a comment to that. That will get their attention.

I’d do that. But how do I?

Everyone on this thread needs to start posting complaints on their LinkedIn page. That should get some real attention

Awful decision. I’m glad I’m not the only one furious at this asinine decision. I may have to seek out other alternatives to Dropbox as vault was literally the selling point for me when I signed up several years ago.

Agree 100% Joedmartinez. I'm actively researching a new file sharing service. Vault was the only reason that I went with Dropbox. If you do indeed make the switch a different service, please let us know which one.

Thanks for the reply and for the tip about OneDrive. I'll definitely be looking at that service. Appreciate it!
