How can I activate the Dell promotion with Dropbox?

Dropbox Plan
Currently on Standard
Payment Method
Card
How did you upgrade?

I upgraded directly from the DB website

Question or Issue
Last year I was participating in a Dropbox promotion that gave me more than the 2gb under the standard plan, which recently expired.  In the meantime, I purchased a new Dell computer at Costco about 9 months ago.  I have heard that Dell offers a promotion with Dropbox for additional free storage for one year.  The instructions say to log into my DB account from the Dell computer to begin that promotion.  When I log into DB, there is no option to begin a Dell promotion.  My two questions are:  (a) what am I doing wrong to not get this promotion; and (b) will I be able to take advantage of this promotion for one year from today or one year from the date I purchased the computer.

  • Thanks for the follow-up.  I did not seem to have a way to access the link from my new computer, and so I concluded that my new Dell that I purchased almost a year ago from Costco did not have that offer as part of my purchase package.

Dell was no help at all and by the time I talked to people off shore with heavy accents and being transferred around, I just gave up.

I (sadly) went ahead and bought the 2gig upgrade from Dropbox.

    Thanks.

    -Bill

Did Dropbox come pre-installed on the computer and offer the promotion when launched? If not, then the model you purchased likely isn't eligible. In order to redeem most of these device-related promotions (Dell, HP, etc.), you have to use the Dropbox application that comes pre-installed.

I believe it's one year from the date of activation. Also keep in mind that if you've had a previous bonus through a Dell promotion, you wouldn't be eligible for another, even with a new device purchase.

Hi Billfromwashington, thanks for posting today!

As Rich stated, you would need to use the pre-installed Dropbox desktop application in order to activate the promotion on your account, if you haven't already activated a similar promotion in the past.

You can read the terms of the promotional offer on this page for more details.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
