Apps & tools to help work from home employees:
As the world reopens, and some workplaces are back in person, and some folks are continuing to work from home, staying in touch is more important than ever. Whether you’re back on site, or still working out of your home, here are some tips to make sure you and your team are on the same page.
Slack and Dropbox:
Slack has been a big part of most people’s work lives even before things got a little wild over the last two years, and now it’s even more helpful for keeping in touch when we’re not bumping into each other in the hallways.
Keep your Dropbox content and Slack conversations together so you can all stay on the same page, save some time and find information easily - so you’re never a step behind.
When you integrate Slack and Dropbox, you can do a lot of handy little extra things, like:
- Start a Slack conversation within Dropbox to discuss changes or updates to shared content.
- Send files to individuals or Slack channels directly from Dropbox to easily share your work.
- See what Dropbox content was shared to Slack from the Dropbox file activity to learn how your team is collaborating.

Zoom and Dropbox:
Zoom is definitely a big part of the working world now, and has become major buzzword over the last two years. It can be great for hashing out ideas and making decisions with your team. You can read all about connecting Zoom and Dropbox here.
If you want to keep everyone on the same page before, during, and after Zoom Meetings by collaborating in real-time, Dropbox and Zoom make a pretty great team. Stay organized and easily access meeting content in one place, including agendas, discussion highlights, and relevant files. Stay on top of your schedule for the day with a list of upcoming meetings and one-click access to individual meeting notes, and more.
Dropbox and Microsoft teams:
If your team uses Microsoft Teams, you’ll know that it is a super handy tool for staying in touch. Connecting Microsoft Teams and Dropbox makes things seamless. Once connected, you can easily share your files to a channel or team, without leaving Dropbox.
Take your productivity one step further using the Microsoft Teams integration with Dropbox, which allows you to:
- Set up Dropbox as a native cloud file storage solution in Microsoft Teams. When you create new Office files in Teams, your files are automatically saved to Dropbox.
- Create new Office files Access, edit and create a Dropbox file or folder in a Microsoft Teams channel or conversation.

WhatsApp and Dropbox:
On a less formal note, WhatsApp is great for staying in touch with everyone, and if you want to share your Dropbox files quickly and easily, all you need to do is connect WhatsApp to Dropbox. Once they’re connected, you’ll be able to share files directly to a new message draft in just a few clicks. Say you want to share a photo file with someone on WhatsApp, you can add a file to WhatsApp in your drafts, check it over, and then decide to send it whenever you’re ready.
Dropbox and Gmail:
If you’re one of the 1.5 billion people who use Gmail, chances are you use it a lot! I know I do, anyway. And like anything you do often, it makes sense to make sure it works well, and we’re happy to say there is a Dropbox for Gmail Add-on that can help with that.
With this add-on, you can make sharing and saving a lot easier and faster. No matter what browser or platform, and even on mobile, you can:
- Share your Dropbox files directly through your Gmail account
- Save attachments from Gmail directly to your Dropbox account
These are just some of the ways you can stay in touch in the new normal, whether you’re back in the office, back at school, or back at home. Now is the perfect time to get everything connected, before the madness begins again!
