5 years agoEducation is changing this year
Anyone who has gone back to school, or shares a house with someone who has, knows that this year is different. There is less of a rush to buy new notebooks and book bags, and more emphasis on good headphones and a desk at home.
A recent survey at Stanford University, found that most students are struggling to transition to remote learning. You can read more about this over at the Work In Progress blog. So, while education is changing, how can you make sure you’re ready for the school year? Well here’s a few tips to get started.
Roll call - Zoom - here.
Zoom is going to be a bigger part of school than ever before, so make sure your account is connected to your Dropbox account for easy access, storage of files and so you can save the recordings to look back on them later.
Scan and save time
A lot of your coursework will be online, but if you like to take notes with a pen, or want to store or share a copy of a physical handout, book or notes, Dropbox Plus users can easily scan and save them with the new Dropbox Scanner App. There’s a Smart crop feature and Smart folder suggestions based on where you've saved recent scans, so you can save your materials in the right place, quickly.
File recovery and version history
We’ve all had times where we’ve deleted the wrong file, or added something new to a project and thought ‘scratch that’, and don’t worry, you can get that version back! Whether you made a change, or a classmate did, you can easily roll back to a previous version (within 30 days), or recover deleted files, and you’ll get a notification if someone makes a change.
Working and studying from home are different, but some things are the same.
We created a cheat sheet for working at home, covering topics like your workspace, a daily habit check list and making sure your team are connected - which all apply to studying too. If you’re working a part time job, or have a very heavy workload, make sure you give yourself a break every now and then. Keep on top of your to-do lists and tasks, by connecting your Paper docs to your calendar, and avoid those last minute forgotten assignments.
