Is Dropbox what I need as an online storage solution?

Hello,

I am an image professional and I am looking for the best online storage solution.

I need to:
- Make a synchronized double backup between an external hard drive and a cloud.
- Store a large amount of files online without losing any quality, make sure that the files will never be compressed by the solution used
- To be able to access these files easily

I can't quite figure out if the Dropbox solution really meets these three criteria. Could anyone please help me figure out to what extent the solution meets my criteria?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Hey juliemahault, thanks for posting your question to our Community!

About the backup feature you're looking for, you can take a look at our external drive backup feature, to see if that suits you.

Also, files you add to Dropbox are not altered in any way, when uploaded.

And you can easily access them through our desktop client, our website and mobile app.

Let me know if you still have any questions.

    Hi Hannah,
Thank you very much for your feedback!
From what I understand Dropbox allows you to backup the contents of an external drive. However, I don't have the impression that the automatic synchronization of the external drive and the cloud is possible. Could you please confirm this, I'm not sure I'm getting this one right.

    Many thanks

    Hey Julie!

Indeed, you can only make changes to your files in the external drive, but you cannot make changes to your backed up files in the cloud, so I guess the sync would be one-way, in this case.

So the files in the cloud won't back up automatically from the external drive?

    Many thanks

When you plug your external drive in to your computer and choose to back it up with Dropbox, the files will sync from your external drive to the Dropbox cloud.

If you'd like to make changes to the files, though, you can only make the changes directly through the external drive.

You can't edit/add/move files that are in the external drive backup from the cloud.

Your backup will update automatically every hour while your external hard drive is plugged in.

    Hello Hannah,

Ok very clear thanks for your feedback. One more question: is it possible to get more than 2T of storage space? Or is it going to be the ultimate limit?
