2026 Policy Prep: Quick Dropbox Security Check for Educators
As schools wind down for holiday break, itâs a great moment for IT admins in the education space to give their Dropbox Admin Console a quick tune-up, in preparation for new policies rolling out in 2026. Start by confirming that only the right people still have access. Clean up old accounts, double check roles and if you havenât already, turn on single sign-on to keep logins simple and secure. Itâs worth reviewing your authentication basics: two-step verification, device approvals and session timeouts can prevent accidental access on shared school devices. Sharing controls deserve a close look, too. Many organizations are tightening external sharing rules so make sure link permissions, passwords, expirations and domain restrictions match your 2026 policies. A quick scan of retention settings, activity logs and any legal or compliance requirements will also help ensure your team is covered. Finally, take a moment to review connected apps and classroom collaboration spaces - remove tools you no longer use and make sure shared folders and templates follow new guidelines. We know this is a lot of information to take in, so we compiled a checklist that you can download to tick off as you get ready for 2026. A little prep now can really make any new policy rollout smoother later.172Views3likes2CommentsCatching EDUCAUSE Online... Whoâs Tuning In? đ©âđ»
Hey everyone! I wanted to pop in and see who else is planning to join the online portion of the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference 2025 this week! I wasnât able to make it to the in-person event in October, so I am really looking forward to catching some of the online sessions this time around đ©âđ». A couple that look really interesting and worthwhile attending are: âWelcome Aboard - Rethinking the Student Journey as a Digital First- Class Experienceâ - this session is all about creating a more seamless, engaging digital experience for students. âNew Research and Resources for Building Students Self- Directed Learning Onlineâ - this session focuses on helping students take more ownership of their online learning. Before joining Dropbox, I worked in the education sector, so these kinds of conversations about digital learning and student experience are especially close to my heart đ. I know many of you here use Dropbox to support teaching and learning, whether itâs sharing course materials, organizing research or collaborating with your colleagues and students. I am especially curious to hear what sessions or topics you think connect to that side of your work đ©âđ« . So, is anyone else planning to tune in today and tomorrow? What sessions are you most looking forward to? Itâs always fun hearing how everyoneâs bringing new ideas (and new tools!) back to their classrooms and campuses! đ124Views2likes2CommentsWelcome!
