Search and sort through images with facial recognition
I’m in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyone’s photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.

To be completely honest, I feel this function is absolutely essential, particularly as others have highlighted, many of us are dealing with thousands upon thousands of photographs. Without this feature, managing and making use of our content becomes unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming.
I’ve genuinely considered cancelling my subscription over this, as it feels like such a core tool that should already exist within Dropbox. For a service that markets itself around organisation, accessibility, and ease of use, this gap is quite significant. I really hope Dropbox can prioritise this sooner rather than later, as it would make a substantial difference to the value and usability of the platform

I agree that this functionality is a must-have. Most people have thousands of photos, so it’s incredibly tedious to try to locate photos of specific people without facial recognition. I used to be a “folder person” to keep photos organised, but in recent years have let that go because search has evolved so much that folders are now almost redundant.
To be fair, I use Apple iPhone, iPad and Mac, so I’m used to the Apple facial recognition photo search function. Having recently removed thousands of photos from iCloud and into Dropbox, I expected Dropbox would have this same feature but was disappointed that this was not the case.
Please reconsider the facial recognition search feature for future development.

I would like this very much too! You get so used to it that your phone can do it, you want it in your trusted tools too

Please add this feature! Dropbox is the best/easiest place for me to store photos but the lack of facial recognition is frustrating. I like the object recognition (like searching "dog," etc) but we need faces!

Please add these feature as it is extremely time consuming to sort through photos when you have been with dropbox for over a decade and short business records by year and photographer.

I serve as an amateur photojournalist at my local church for their seasonal and special events as well as special ministry activities and candid moments of worship and fellowship.
Typically, a number of those images turn out well enough that I would like to make them available to those pictured in them. But before releasing any photo, I feel it is important to obtain the approval of each person pictured.
I have a system of doing so, but it is cumbersome. That process would be greatly streamlined with a facial-recognition search feature. Such an element would allow me to share more beautiful moments with more people while respecting each person's right to determine which of their images will be distributed or made public.
Thank you for considering this suggestion and for providing your customers a way to influence future development of Dropbox's already-wonderful service.

This is a much needed feature.
I started using Dropbox for images mainly and I would love if there was a dedicated photos app that would pull all images from your dropbox so you could manage them by either hiding the ones you don't want in your feed, looking for people, pets and more.
Please bring this feature as soon as possible.

The link Megan shared above looks dead. This would be a great feature and much needed. I use Dropbox to house all of my photos. I've appreciated the context search that has been available the last few years. Facial recognition would be really helpful.
As a side comment - many years ago, Dropbox had a whole side app called Carousel, which was focused on images. It was really great and I loved using it. Unfortunately it was sunset but I hope Dropbox can move some focus back to images. - JHellewell9 months agoNew member | Level 1
This is becoming an essential requirement for the management of photos. I want to ensure that I can locate photos, quickly, timely and without setting up filing systems. This is a no brainer.
