Dropbox shows 'up to date' , but many files and folders still show blue circular arrow in Explorer

On one of my PCs, which is the only one on Windows 11, files and folders still show the blue circular arrow as if they are syncing when Dropbox has said 'up to date' in the tray icon for a long while.

I have tried restarting the PC, reinstalling Dropbox completely, moving the Dropbox save location. The same files show green checkmarks on my other PCs.

Nothing seems to fix the issue.

Thank you, I fixed the issue using Walter's steps but slightly modified:

Walter mentions that Dropbox's registry folders (in “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” > “SOFTWARE” > “Microsoft” > “Windows” > “CurrentVersion” > “Explorer” > “ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers) need to be within the first 15 entries alphabetically, and to rename the Dropbox registry folders until they are within said top 15.
Mine were already in the top 15, but I bumped them up to the very top Alphabetically anyways by renaming all registry folders above them (see attached picture, I renamed the Asus Shell Extension folders to appear at the bottom of the list).

After rebooting, this fixed the issue.

Hi @Jesse Fargo, how are you today?

Interesting case there. Can you clarify the version of the desktop app, that you have installed on your device? You can find this by locating your Dropbox icon on your task bar, next to your WiFi and hovering your mouse over it.

Also, if I were you, I'd try quitting the app, and then re-starting it, can you give it a go?

Keep me posted on the results!

I'm good thank you, and yourself?

I have version 172.4.7555.

I exited and re opened the app, unfortunately the issue still persists. I have also tried restarting explorer.

Cheers

Hi there @svande1, sorry to hear about this.

Could you send us a screenshot of the app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar at the moment?

Did you reboot your computer at all since you first noticed this?
