Lost Dropbox custom icon on Dropbox folder (v163.4.5456 for MacOS)

Lost Dropbox custom icon on Dropbox folder (v163.4.5456 for MacOS)

Hello!

I just updated Dropbox to v163.4.5456, which moves the Dropbox folder from my custom location to ~/Library/CloudStorage.  It also changes the icon for the folder which now is the same as the app's.  With this change I lost the special and very helpful "Dropbox folder" icon in the MacOS dock.

I deleted the old access and dragged back there the new folder, and it still shows like a regular folder?

Is there a way to show a custom icon for the folder in the dock?  If it was the olden, with the Dropbox logo on a MacOS folder it would be perfect!

Thanks!

Hi @Sebastian S.13, how are you today?

Is it possible that you copied the folder to your desktop, instead of moving it there? Because that would explain why the folder on the desktop doesn't have the Dropbox logo on it.

It's important to note that as part of the Dropbox for macOS update, the Dropbox folder must be located in ~/Library/CloudStorage and you can't change its location, since this is no longer supported by macOS.

Keep me posted!

Hello Megan,

I'm fine, thank you, and hope you're doing great!

The actual folder is where it can only be. Library/CloudStorage.

The folders in the dock are actually short cuts. When you drag and drop a folder there it creates a direct access.

Thank you for your reply!

I have this same issue/request.

I also keep a Dropbox folder link in my Dock; actually an alias, I assume. It used to conveniently display a Dropbox logo nonetheless; but with the recent update, it has lost this logo and I'd like to add it back.

Perhaps this is something that needs to be changed on Apple's end rather than Dropbox's?
