Hi Megan
Good news!
I deleted version 159.3.5865 and downloaded/installed version 158.4.4564 and all is now well.
Many thanks for the help from you and your team.

4 years agoHey jhedleyj, sorry to hear you're having issues with this again.
Could you send us a screenshot of the app's exact status so that we can have a visual too?
As for the desktop app's update to the most recent version, yes, this happens automatically and can't be disabled at this time.

I have just tried the time-honoured procedure of rebooting the computer - no luck. I then tried just quitting Dropbox and re-opening - no luck. I then tried signing out of Dropbox completely but with some trepidation as it completely reset the file locations etc. as though I was removing Dropbox completely. My next step was to simply sign back in to Dropbox and after the app had re-indexed all of the files everything is now OK! (Thank goodness!) So that's it - problem solved! Thanks for your interest and prompt reply.
Regards
John

Hello all
Sorry to tell you but it's happening again for no apparent reason. "Everything is up to date" and " Backing up" all at the same time!I have tried re-installing, restarting as before but nothing is working to fix it. Backing up is happening but I do not really know if it ever completes. Still on version 159.4.5870.
Screenshot attached.

Sorry to see this issue returned for you, jhedleyj.
Can you check the status of the backup on the web surface? Do you see any issues there?
Also, if you leave it for a while, does it stop "backing up"? Does it ever go away?

I hope this is what you mean by web surface. You can see that it is "done" which i assume backup is complete.
If I quit the app and then sign in again it says "Backup complete" then a few seconds later the problem reappears and stays. As far as I am aware everything is backed up but I cannot be sure.

Yes. That's fine!
