How to delink Dropbox sync from entire machine to just folder

How to delink Dropbox sync from entire machine to just folder

With the last Windows 11 update I lost all my data as my Bios had to be updated before they could even wipe my machine, from then I took out a dropbox subscription to sync everything - literally.

Now as my business is growing and I started a seperate business   - I need to seperate my stuff from my personal stuff.

Also I just want to download another instance of the dropbox app and sync only my other business stuff in there

How do I stop the linking of my laptop in its entirety the whole time to just say on location? And have a second instance of dropbox with my other dropbox subscription?

Hi @Omega Intel, thanks for your message.

Are you going to be having a separate Dropbox Business account and a personal account, with different emails?

This will help me to assist further!

Well - actually I started another business and need to definitely keep things seperate along with also splitting my personal stuff from my business

So yes:

  • I have two separate emails and two separate paid subscriptions
  • I also need to end the backup whole laptop to keep my private files private
  • Currently i only have the one dropbox folder installed and only use my new company dropbox via a browser

Hey @Omega Intel, sorry to jump in here.

If you'd like to disable the backup feature, you can follow the steps in our help center article here.

As for your files, please note that you can only have one Dropbox account linked to the Dropbox application on your computer, unless you have a Dropbox Business account.

Dropbox Business allows you to pair your work account with your personal one, so that you can access them both from the same computer, from separate Dropbox folders.
