Hi everyone,

I'm a basic dropbox user and have been for years. I've just upgraded to a new Macbook and switched my dropbox from the old to the new. Now I seem able to read my documents in Dropbox but not edit any of them. None of the help docs seem to make sense to me. Can anyone help me to unlock my documents so I can work with them again?

I'm a freelancer near deadline for a project so this is a bit of a disaster right now.

Thanks for your help!

Sophie

Hi @Sophie_Dolphin, I’m sorry to hear about this issue.

Do you mean that you recently installed the latest Dropbox update for macOS and your local Dropbox folder has now been moved under Locations instead of Favorites in your Finder perhaps?

When saying that you’re now able to see your documents on Dropbox, but not edit them, are you referring to your computer’s Documents folder or to other files that were previously saved on your Dropbox account? Any relevant screenshots you can provide would also be super helpful.

Let me know when you have more updates!

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for your rapid reply. In fact, this is not my situation - but also I've discovered the solution by myself and am too embarrassed at how basic it is to mention here!

You've prompted me to upgrade to the new Dropbox update for Mac, too, though.

Many thanks

Sophie
