Hi Greg,
I've been looking at the documentation here (https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/986) this could be out of date. Its a bit conflicting unless I'm missing something. It refers to the Team admin being the owner. But as you say they are not its owned by the admin but the team.
In the screen shot further down the page it gives a diagram of a folder structure under 'It is not possible to share a Dropbox link to a team folder.'
This looks to be incorrect going on what I can do in the UI.
Team Folder
-> Shared Folder (Sally)
--> Sub Shared Folder (Sally) (in the ui I can not share this folder again as it already resides in a shared folder)

9 years agoApologies that the help article is unclear. The terminology here is a bit overloaded, but while a team folder is considered to belong to the team itself, only admins can manage them. This is what I was referring to when I said "Only admins can edit membership settings.". Note that a team may have multiple admins, and any admin can make those changes.
Anyway, regarding the note about the links, that is accurate based on what I see in the UI. That is, I don't have the option to create a shared link for the team folder itself via dropbox.com. It sounds like you're referring to a different feature (shared folders).
In any case, this is a bit outside the scope of API support, and I'm not the best person to ask about Dropbox for Business functionality itself. If you need help with the Dropbox for Business product itself, you can contact Business support here: https://www.dropbox.com/support
