Paper API - Create Paper Document

Paper API - Create Paper Document

ChrisN
Explorer | Level 4

So I've found your API for Paper, however it doesn't include the ability to create paper document. Specifically with content in it.

I have a separate question/request around templates (https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-Paper/Customize-quot-Create-meeting-doc-quot-or-Custom-Templ...).

If we could have an API for creating documents with content in them, we could solve this problem ourselves, but unless I'm misssing it, I can't see anywhere in the API to create a Paper document.

Thanks for the post! That's correct, the Paper API doesn't offer a way to create/upload documents.

I can't make any promises, but I'm sending this along as a feature request.

Api need to implement Evernote import to Paper

It'd really help. I'm an evernote user who wants to migrate everything to DropBox and Paper as it seems to be the right fit.

As I'm trying not to lose everything I've saved in my Evernote. That API would really help 😉

Any update on this feature request? I too would like to be able to create paper documents through the API.

No, I don't have an update on this right now unfortunately.

Sorry, Greg, but how are we supposed to migrate from other apps to Paper if there are no import tools and no API to develop our own?

I would love to switch from Evernote to Paper, but I can't be expected to leave behind over 6,000 notes... 😞

@Serandel I don't have a solution to offer for this right now unfortunately. I've sent your feedback along to the team.

The Dropbox API now offers a way to create and update Paper documents programmatically:

https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#paper-docs-create
https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#paper-docs-update

If you're using an official SDK, there will also be corresponding methods for those endpoints.
