The "DropBox Badge" can detect if a shared file is currently open. Can I do this using the API?

I want to be able to detect when a participant of a shared folder opens or closes a document stored in that folder. The Dropbox Badge in Dropbox for Business appears to have this information. Is it a...

No, unfortunately this information isn't available via the API. I'll pass this along as a feature request though.
