Unlinked computer from dropbox and now can't access files on my home computer

New member | Level 2

I accidentally allowed from computer to sync with dropbox, so then I unlinked my computer from dropbox and now I can't get into any of my files on my home computer and my desktop icons are gone! How do I get these files back??

Dropboxer

Hi there @VP21, thanks for reaching out to us here!

Since you unlinked the desktop app, this should have disabled the computer backup and the files should be within your Dropbox folder.

The folder path specifically would be "Dropbox > My PC/Mac (device xyz) > Desktop".

You can move the contents of the "Desktop" folder within the Dropbox folder back to their original location, on your systems Desktop folder.

If you backed up other folders too (Downloads and Documents) then you can do the same with those folders too and move the files back to your computer.

Let me know if this helps!
