if I click on such link on my computer, then: 1. Dropbox-desktop app runs and finds the file in my local desktop folder 2. the app identifies the file-type and opens the proper app (in my example it would be Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is configured to handle PDFs by default.
3. if such link is clicked on a mobile device, then the file should be opened in web-editor (like with the https://-URL)
Why I need this feature. - I use OneNote to collect the info for my projects. The knowledge items can be files (which I store in Dropbox) - both OneNote and Dropbox syncronize across all my computers - I would like to open a proper desktop app when clicking on a link to my documents in OneNote page rather than opening web-version of the app, as it happens with https:-links from Dropbox. - I cannot use URIs like "file://" because the path to dropbox folder differs from one device to another. And I have mixed Mac and Windows machines.
