Can we have different plans / price points / data combinations / plan sizes?

Can we have different plans / price points / data combinations / plan sizes?

Hi, I find limited in the choices of subscription plans. Basic/free and Pro/110$

I'd gladly pay something like 25$ a year for 50GB and a 2 users family plan.

Considering iCloud have a 12$ plan for 20 GB and 48$ for 200GB, that seems reasonable..

Here are some interesting articles on DB

and the blog https://blogs.dropbox.com/tech/2016/03/magic-pocket-infrastructure/

it is hard to argue with success, someone once said.

Well I have to admit dropbox, you have the better service. Everything about your service is simple and just works better. I would much prefer to stay with dropbox. Unfortunately all that convenience is not worth the price difference compared to your competitor's budget plans. If you ever bring out a budget plan of your own then you can count on my patronage in the meantime though thanks it's been a joy to use your service I will miss it.

I have about 12gb from referrals and other. I wish I could double that. I really only need 25 GB, 100GB would be ideal. 1 TB is such overkill, so paying $99 a year is a waste.  I would gladly pay 1/4 that price for 1/10 of that space.

Dropbox has trialed small plans in the past, even recently, and they never work out. They're just not cost effective.

Also remember that they have increased the storage capacity many times over the years (50GB > 100GB > 1TB) without ever increasing the price. They give you a lot of space and you just use what you need.

I have been using a Dropbox Free Plan.  I like the service and would like to keep it.  I received some free bonus space with the purchase of a device, for a 2 year term.  That free promo is ending.  I have 15 GB in use.  I can use a plan with 20-25 GB, or maybe 50-100 GB at most.  I do not need 1000 GB, which is the least expensive paid plan Dropbox offers, and I can't pay 9.99 for that much space, when I only need barely 2.5% of that amount (1000 GB x 2.5% = 25GB).

Dropbox needs another plan, above the Free plan, and below the 9.99 month plan.  I would gladly pay 1.99 month for 100GB like that offered by Google Drive, or 1.99 for 50GB like that offered by Microsoft OneDrive.

I may have to transfer my data over to another provider, since Dropbox does not seem interested in offering any plans other than 9.99 month for 40x space than I need.

Why will Dropbox not respond to this need?

Dropbox needs another plan, above the Free plan, and below the 9.99 month plan.

Search the forums and you'll find many, MANY other posts regarding this. Dropbox has trialed smaller plans in the past (several times, including recently) and found that they are not financially viable. They lose money on them.

I agree with Rich. Giving 50GB for 1.99USD a month is not viable. Dropbox not only invest in the hardware to provide the 50GB to the user but lot of additional core systems for backup, history, replicas and other high end hardware investment.

2 or 3 years ago, with 99 USD a year you had 100GB, now with the same amount of money you get 1000GB. Looks good to me, I pay them every year with an smile.

*whispers*

You probably actually had 50gb ;o)

When I run out of space in my free account I considered first paying for Dropbox, cause I liked the service and cause in the end it was easier to pay than migrating. I finally migrated even when I didn't want to though, cause I just needed a few Gb more and the Dropbox price was just too much for what I needed. I needed about 15 Gb (30Gb if I add all my photos).

If you look at it like "1Tb for 120€/year" it doesn't look bad, but if you look at it like it really is "30Gb for 120€/year" it looks very expensive, specially if you check competitor's pricing.

I understand Dropbox cannot create a price tier per each specif user needs, but having two price tiers would be helpful.

What would be the price I'd pay for? 5€/month for 100-200Gb would be OK. Should they do that, I'll be back.

Hello Dropbox Community,

I was wondering if there are any new and other Pro plans in planning? I use Dropbox since 2009 and I really like the functionality. I think it is much better than Googles or Apples services but the one thing that bothers me is that there is no affordable plan compared to your competitors. I know those companies are bigger. Apple gives 50 GB for 0,99 cents. Google 15 for free and I am waiting since forever for Dropbox to release a plan of let's say 100 GB for 2,99 € or something like that. I'm not in need of a whole TB and instead of having a Campus Cup / Race every other year or so make sure you create a student plan at least.

Thank you

-Nicolai
