Can we have different plans / price points / data combinations / plan sizes?

Can we have different plans / price points / data combinations / plan sizes?

Hi, I find limited in the choices of subscription plans. Basic/free and Pro/110$

I'd gladly pay something like 25$ a year for 50GB and a 2 users family plan.

Considering iCloud have a 12$ plan for 20 GB and 48$ for 200GB, that seems reasonable..

Here's the chat I had with a customer service representative the other day. A bit of a dead end. Upper management don't seem to care:

Thank you! To start, there is not a way to purchase only space on Dropbox. Would you be interested in earning space so you would not need to upgrade?

Maria

I think I've already tried to earn more space. As you can see I'm at 10GB which is far beyond the initial 2GB offered. I'm willing to listen to your suggestions.

Me

Gotcha- in that case other then earning space with referrals or contributing to our Dropbox community forum, the only way to get more space would be by upgrading.

Maria

Why is dropbox closed to smaller plans? I've been on the forum for a year now and there are quite a few disgruntled users that would gladly become customers if Dropbox were to have a plan for them.

Me

I completely understand. The Dropbox team has done a lot of studies and they found that the current plans we offer suit most peoples needs. I am aware that they don't always suit everyone. However- I would love to pass your feedback along to my higher ups!

Maria

I've done this in the past and I don't think the higher ups are listening...it must not be cost efficient for them to offer smaller plans in the short term. However, longterm it makes sense because they would be cultivating customer loyalty and future users of bigger plans.

Me

I totally understand your point. Since I am on the pre-plans team I do not have a say on any of the features or plans on Dropbox. But I can get you a forum where you can post your concerns to Dropbox if you'd like!

The art of Absolutely Not Listening.

@Krabut Indeed! Dropbox isn't listening to this concern. I wonder if we all shared our opinion on the chat if it would be heard...

As a videographer and photographer I use approx 10TB per year in hard drives - I can no longer use dropbox as they don't offer anything over 3TB for individuals. Businesses can be just one person, so it would be great if they offered the unlimited storage to businesses with one user.

What about small plans for small users, sometimes people need less than 100 Gb. The option of 2TB sounds like paying for something that probably won't use in a lifetime.

I only need about 100g or 200g of space. I think the cheapest plan is 2T, which is a little more expensive. Hope to come up with a 100g and 200g plan, and then make it cheaper.

Google Cloud disk in addition to a plan is $1.99100G, I hope we can come up with a similar plan.

Thank you

Imagine being able to OneTime buy, say, 20GB for 5$.

DropBox is a reputable company with intelligent partnering - intelligent interface, document sharing, collaboration on docs, back-up, file recovery - and this trust would allow me to invest a small amount. Compared to 2TB this is much more expensive, but I do not need 2TB. What I need is the document sharing. I cannot handle 2TB storage - it just becomes the basement to throw stuff into, and at some point you cannot leave or clean up, because there's just so much stuff!

I could manage it myself - turn up the volume a bit. Would not need people to do so.  Just an interface.

I have been a DropBox freebie since the beginning. 9,75GB by way of referrals. Almost impossible to find someone today not using DropBox and have more free space through referrals, who also prove my referall true by actually using DB.

Compared to 2TB this is much more expensive, but I do not need 2TB - not yet. And in which other business model do you lease 100 times the needed storage space in a good neighbourhood? (= DropBox)

What I need most is the document sharing. I cannot handle 2TB storage - knowing myself it will just becomes the basement to throw stuff into, and at some point I would neither be able to leave nor clean up, because there's just so much stuff! Even now it is near impossible to leave DropBox because of externally spread links to folders and documents - made over the past 10 years - but I am actually happy here. I have been able to keep up with software updates and keep my old machines running rather than being forced to leave or buy new hardware, as other companies practice.

No DB employee would need be part of this. Just an interface. I could manage purchases myself - crank up the volume a bit. As needed. Maybe one day need so much I would hit an official tier - like 2TB or 5, or whatever - either as lifetime or subscription. I am sure it is manageable.

You would make a killing with a $49.95/1 TB annual subscription plan - just saying. It would fulfill the sweet spot that most professionals are looking for. 2 GB is way too low, and 2 TB is overkill.

Hi there Dropbox!

I've been a customer of yours for years now and I was wondering if you could provide me (and the people in this thread) with a smaller plan than the 2TB one. I specifically don't pay for the storage space, but rather for the services that come with the premium subscription and are missing from the free tier plan.

My subscription will run out this September and now (after reading some of the comments here) I'm considering not to renew it. The 2TB plan is for me too much, I personally would be happy with a 100 or 500 GB plan if there was one, even a 1TB plan would be nice for a smaller price. If this will not be added I will most likely cancel my subscription and move to an another provider.
